Wise Construction Chosen for HVMA Kenmore Pharmacy Upgrades

Wise Construction has been chosen to upgrade HVMA Kenmore’s compounding pharmacy to meet the new regulatory standards while expanding the space.

The pharmacy, which is surrounded by an active oncology department, needs to remain active throughout construction, not an easy task considering the work includes the reconfiguration and relocation of complex mechanical systems. Wise was brought in early for preconstruction services, and has been running the project on a design-assist approach with full coordination to avoid any delays to the fast-track schedule. The compounding pharmacy will become an Iso-Class 7 Pharmacy, and the current conference area adjacent to the space will become a new clean room to service the pharmacy. Using 3D coordination, the REVIT model, and MEP design drawings, Wise’s VDC team was able to identify a way to allow both new and existing MEP systems to fit into the tight space while complying with DPH ceiling height requirements and without shutting down the pharmacy during construction. Temporary HVAC systems will be set up to keep the pharmacy up and running. The project is set to be complete spring 2020.

The project team includes:

  • Owner: HVMA
  • Architect: JACA Architects
  • MEP Engineer: R.W. Sullivan
  • Mechanical: TG Gallagher
  • Electrical: Murphy Electric
  • Clean Room System: Hodess
