Laboratory Conversion at The Innovation and Design Building
A complex 280,000 SF infrastructure upgrade was completed to prepare for future laboratory and research tenants. Wise converted floors 4-8 from retail and office space to tenant-ready laboratories along with extensive modifications to over 70,000 SF upon the roof. Through the whole conversion we managed to enhance and expand all electrical work, elevate all plumbing systems, and reconfigure the mechanical/HVAC work using prefabricated methods. All the construction was implemented without disrupting the building’s functionality as it remained occupied. We effectively managed infrastructure challenges and executed 220 planned crane picks with seamless coordination. The end result has given the Innovation and Design Building further opportunities to innovate Boston.
