Wise Construction Chosen to Build Campus Expansion for Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute of Health Professions

Wise Construction has been chosen to build Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute of Health Professions (MGH IHP) campus expansion at One Constitution Wharf in Charlestown, MA. MGH IHP, an affiliate of Partners Healthcare System, is expanding their campus by 25,000 SF. The expansion is being completed on a fast track schedule to accommodate the growing needs of the staff and students.

To help with consistency in design and to make best use of the budget, Wise preplanned the project using a design-assist approach. The team scanned the existing space and created a 3D model that was shared with the architect prior to design. This allowed for key subcontractors to come on early in the process to assist with the overall constructability and design. Wise worked with MGH IHP and key subcontractors to install a fully demountable office system and developed a mock-up that included HVAC design as well as sound testing, ensuring that the selected design would meet the needs of the MGH IHP staff. Through design assist and value engineering, Wise has reduced the initial budget by 14%.

The MGH IHP project team includes:
General Contractor: Wise Construction
Architect: Isgenuity
MEP/FP Engineer: NV5
Building Owner: Jamestown Properties
Sound Consultant: Acentech
Furniture Solutions: Red Thread
Millwork: RGC
