Wise Completes Phases One and Two of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s General Medicine Department

Wise Construction recently completed the first two phases of a multi-phased renovation for the Department of General Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC).

Spanning throughout two buildings of the East Campus, the project included extensive upgrades. Through multiple phases, the area was transformed into a large central space for the General Medicine Department.

“Working in an active hospital has a unique set of challenges, having the right team is critical for project success. The entire project team, client, architect and engineer, were on board from day one and the collaboration between everyone made for a successful project,” said Wise’s VP of Healthcare.

Construction was performed adjacent to an ambulance entrance that had to remain operational 24/7. The team utilized an airtight containment system to create a barrier between the construction site and the high traffic corridor, allowing Wise to complete the renovation without interruption to the hospital’s staff and patients.

Wise’s vast experience in the building, along with close collaboration with BIDMC and the design team ultimately lead to the project’s success. The architect on the project was Miller Dyer Spears and the Engineer was BR+A Consulting Engineers.
