Kaleido Biosciences, Inc., located in Lexington, Mass., was rapidly growing their sciences and needed more space on campus. They were able to secure more space which needed to be converted on a fast-paced timeline. As specialists in occupied, expedited, and mechanically intense projects, they knew Wise Construction was the right fit for the job.
With an aggressive timeline, Wise had to mobilize quickly. For schedule efficiencies and quality control, the project incorporated DIRTT wall systems in both the lab and office portion of the space. DIRTT’s prefabrication cut back on construction time and impacts, making for a lean process. Using Design Assist, Wise was able to develop a successful base detail with wall systems that that helped expedite the epoxy floor installation, reducing the overall time by 17% and allowing Wise to deliver Kaleido their newly expanded labs ahead of schedule.
The finished expansion included new wet labs, dry labs and clean room space. Wise also completed all sitework associated with the installation of a nitrogen tank that supports the newly expanded labs. The offices were converted into larger private offices, conference rooms and collaborative work spaces. A new glass enclosed conference room was constructed between the main staircases at the center of the building’s lobby, creating a showpiece for both Kaleido and the building owner, King Street Properties.
