On the 4th floor of Boston Children’s Hospital, a complex replacement was completed in the mechanical room, involving two custom stick-built 65,000 CFM AHU’s and one 100,000 CFM RF (Return Fan) to serve patient and clinical floors. The new units were designed and built to last, with features such as a diamond plated floor with welded seams, lifted units for an underneath view, and a multi-fan wall. These features will simplify maintenance and ensure seamless operation. Patient floors are now supported by newly built and advanced units, all installed within the accelerated 45-day schedule per unit.

The tight space of the mechanical room with close proximity to other running equipment being surrounding by active patient floors while on a 45-day schedule (per unit).

Determining a specific design and plan during the pre-construction process while providing building considerations wherever necessary. A high level of communication with the BCH staff played a vital role.

The seamless installation of two AHU’s and one RF that are built to last.
