Kaleido Biosciences is a clinical-stage healthcare company with a chemistry-driven approach to targeting the microbiome to treat disease and improve human health. Due to their growing science Kaleido needed more space to meet their needs and took over existing lab and office space located in Lexington, MA. Wise Construction renovated existing labs into a new synthesis lab, purification room and spray dryer lab. A new nitrogen tank was needed to support the labs. Wise completed all of the sitework associated with the installation. This included the pouring of a new concrete pad, installing all associated electrical and plumbing lines, as well as installing new fencing. Additionally Wise constructed a new executive suite, all adjacent to active labs. A new glass enclosed conference room was constructed in the main lobby of the building without interrupting building operations.
For schedule efficiencies and quality control the project incorporated DIIRT wall systems in both the lab and office portion of the space. The prefabrication of the DIIRT wall system cut back on construction time, dust and made for a lean building process. A Design Assist approach was also used in the construction of this space. Having all key subcontractors on early in the design meeting on all associated deliverables made for a seamless and efficient construction process.
