HIM Building Renovations
Wise provided preconstruction and construction management services for a 50,000 SF renovation of existing laboratory and office space at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Harvard Institutes of Medicine. This fully occupied research facility houses laboratories for many of the major teaching hospitals in the Longwood Medical Area is home to two Nobel prize winners. The project included new laboratory equipment, HVAC, electrical and fire alarm upgrades, DIRTT wall systems, millwork and other new finishes.
All work on the two separate floors was phased and sequenced around material delivery times. We also coordinated our schedules with those of the conference center in order to keep all labs, and the building as a whole, up and running.
Wise actually went above and beyond providing just construction services on the project. In fact, we performed a casework evaluation to minimize the amount of new casework purchased that resulted in savings of both time and money for the client.
When the project was complete, Wise Construction presented Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund with a check for $7,200 to support the Institute’s research of childhood cancers, generated through the sale of scrap building materials carefully salvaged by workers during demolition and construction.
